At Organic Ocean Seafood we are independent West Coast fishermen who believe a balance must be maintained between our traditional way of life and the impact on the fisheries. By adopting ocean-friendly, sustainable and responsible harvesting practices, we are supplying the finest wild seafood while ensuring the long-term health of the resource and the marine ecosystem. And while we continue to brave the pristine waters of the North Pacific in our quest to bring back decidedly undomesticated fish for our discriminating clientele, we also recognize that even well-managed fisheries cannot keep up with growing global seafood consumption. To fill that gap and relieve the pressure on the wild capture fisheries, we are looking to advancements in aquaculture like shellfish culturing and closed system finfish production that promise healthy seafood alternatives with minimal environmental impact.
In recognition of our dedication to product knowledge, service provision and consistent supply of the very best fish, the Chef’s Table Society of British Columbia named Organic Ocean Producer/Supplier of the Year, a significant accolade given the region’s reputation as a world class seafood center. Increasingly, those chefs who are determined to make environmentally friendly seafood choices and select sustainable options and the finest ingredients for their menus have jumped on board and Organic Ocean now supplies exclusively Ocean Wise™ recommended seafood to restaurants from Vancouver to St. John’s in Canada as well as to the top chefs in the major U.S. metropolitan markets.
